Climate

Barcelona’s location on the Mediterranean Coast assures a warm, welcoming climate with pleasant temperatures and sunshine throught the year. The city boasts more than 5 kilometres of beaches, an Olympic marina, and open-air restaurants and street cafés that, because of the climate, can be enjoyed by residents and visitors year-round.

Rainfall, which is occasionally heavy, averages 1.000 mm. a year, making it possible to maintain the many green areas around the city. Barcelona enjoys sunshine during all the seasons of the year. You can eat at open-air restaurants or enjoy a drink at any of its many pavement cafés, always on the shores of the Mediterranean.

Currency

Spain uses the Euro (€), wich circulates in denominations of € 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 notes and 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents or 1€ and 2€ coins.

Money can be changed at the city's banks and savings banks, as well as exchange booths located in the city centre, numerous tourist sites, and the main railway and bus stations, Sants and Barcelona Nord. Banks are open Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Savings banks are also open Thursday afternoons, except during the summer. The exchange booths are open every day in the city and until 10p.m. at the railway and bus stations.
