City

After an extreme makeover lasting more than two decades, Barcelona has transformed itself into one of the most dynamic and stylish cities in the world. Summer is serious party time, with week-long fiesta fun. But year-round the city sizzles - it's always on the biting edge of architecture, food, fashion, style, music and good times. The buildings, especially the work of the eccentric genius Gaudí, will blow you away. The art, with significant collections by Picasso and Miró, will make you clammy all over.

The people, with their exuberance, their creative spirit, their persistent egalitarianism, will fascinate you. Lively, modern, internationally renowned, Mediterranean, multicultural, enterprising, open, friendly, attractive and dynamic. This is undoubtedly a description of Barcelona. Few cities in the world have so many reasons for being the best place to hold a special event. The city's strategic location, its modern services network , its extensive, successful experience in organising large events and its special, hospitable character guarantee success.

Must see sights

Whatever your interests, be sure not to miss a stroll along La Rambla. It is one of the city’s landmark sights, a bustling thoroughfare where flower stalls and performance artists jostle for space.

The historic centre is imbued with a bohemian atmosphere which you can discover as you walk through the Gothic Quarter, and the Ribera and Raval districts. This is one of the world’s best-preserved medieval quarters. However, if Barcelona is famous for anything, it must be the buildings  in the Eixample. If you take a walk around this neighbourhood you will be able to admire architectural masterpieces such as the Sagrada Família and La Pedrera, among other wonders inherited from Antoni Gaudí and the other architects of the city’s home-grown art-nouveau movement, modernisme.

In this city, which overlooks the sea, you can enjoy a whole host of open spaces such as beaches, the Olympic Marina, Tibidabo or Montjuïc and its surroundings. All in all, it is the ideal city to discover exceptional monuments and surprising places.
